MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS:

The Foothills Group holds a membership meeting every month of the year except July. We meet the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 226 Pendleton Road, Clemson. The doors open at 7:00 and we usually have tables set up with environmental items for sale. A short business meeting begins at 7:30, followed by a presentation, and then refreshments. You do not have to be a Sierra Club member to attend the meetings and we encourage nonmembers to join us in the meetings.

October 4th Meeting - 7:30 pm

Sierra Summit

The Club's Sierra Summit 2005 National Environmental Convention and Expo brought more than 5,000 individuals to San Francisco during Sept. 8-11. Foothills Group chair Linda Taft was among the 800 official delegates who participated in the most inclusive and extensive direction-setting process the Club has ever had. After six months of chapter and group meetings leading up to the Summit and eight hours of deliberation once there, delegates chose "Building a New Energy Future" as the Club's top priority over the next five years. And they also rated the Club's effectiveness in pursuing conservation priorities (a low 3.2 out of 10 for the top priority!) Linda will share information on the Club's past, current conditions, and the planned future directions. She'll also share photos and stories of some of the outings and other activities she enjoyed while in northern California. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the national Club's goals and strategies for environmental protection and conservation.
